Obama And Hiroshima – Punt

A Japanese report asked President Obama if he [Obama] thought the dropping of two nuclear bombs on Japan in an effort to bring WWII to and end was the right decision.

Frankly, given the presidents tendency to apologize for perceived American misdeeds, I was surprised he did not prostrate himself before the report and beg forgiveness.

Instead, he punted.

Reporter: What is your understanding of the historical meaning of the A-bombing in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, do you think it was the right decision?

Obama ignores in whole the specificity of the question as it relates to Hiroshima and Nagasaki and if the bombing of each of these cities was or was not the right thing to do.

Instead he launches into a rambling sales pitch for nuclear non-proliferation.

Obviously he cannot be crass and rude, but I am sure he could have found a way to at least note that had there been no attack on Pearl Harbor by the Japanese it then follows that Hiroshima and Nagasaki would not have been bombed by our nation.

Japan and Japan alone is responsible for the death of it’s citizens during WWII.

For the future Mr. President, yes… the bombing of both Hiroshima and Nagasaki was the right thing to do. It was a terrible thing to have to do, but it was the right action to take.
